Styrene-acrylic Latex is prepared by copolymerization of styrene and acrylate monomer through emulsion. It is one of the most studied systems in emulsion polymerization and one of the ten non-crosslinked emulsions with important industrial application value in the world today. As a kind of important intermediate chemical products, styrene-acrylic latex has a very wide range of uses. It is mainly used as building paint, metal surface latex paint, ground paint, paper binder, adhesive, etc. Styrene-acrylic emulsion adhesion, transparent film, water resistance, oil resistance, heat resistance, good aging resistance.Styrene-acrylic latex used as paper adhesive, but also with starch, polyvinyl alcohol, sodium carboxymethyl cellulose adhesives.

The acrylate emulsion system introduced into the hard monomer styrene is called styrene-acrylate emulsion. Due to its high cost performance, it is widely used in adhesives, paper sizing agents and coatings.


Classification

With the development of papermaking industry, styrene-acrylic emulsion has become an indispensable industrial supplies in papermaking industry and papermaking products processing. It is widely used as pulp additive, paper impregnating agent and paper coating agent, etc., in order to improve the tensile strength, cyclic compressive strength and water resistance of paper. According to the different processes and functions, styrene-acrylic emulsions are mainly classified as follows:

(1) Silicone modified styrene-acrylic emulsion

Silicone modified styrene-acrylic emulsion is referred to as styrene-acrylic emulsion.Organosilicon has excellent resistance to high and low temperature, ultraviolet and infrared radiation, oxidation and degradation, etc., and modification of styrene-acrylic emulsion with organosilicon can obviously improve its weather resistance, light retention, elasticity and durability, etc.


(2) Organic fluorine modified styrene-acrylic emulsion

It uses organic fluorine polymer or fluorine coating of organic polymer as the main film-forming material, which has excellent weather resistance, durability, chemical character and corrosion resistance, wear resistance, insulation, the clear and polluting, such as performance. It is widely used in construction, aviation, electronics, electrical, mechanical, and household products, wood furniture, and other fields. It is a collection of high and new. (3) Styrene-acrylic emulsion modified by epoxy resin

Epoxy-modified styrene-acrylic emulsion not only has the advantages of high strength, corrosion resistance and strong adhesion of epoxy resin, but also has the characteristics of weather resistance and good gloss, etc. Its coating hardness, pollution resistance and water resistance are excellent, which has great promotion value.


(4) Functional monomer modified styrene-acrylic emulsion

The research on further improving and perfecting the properties of styrene-acrylic emulsion is becoming more and more active, and the functional monomer of the system is one of the hot spots.Generally, comonomer composition can be divided into three parts. The first part is soft monomer (acrylic acid ester) with low glass transition temperature, which gives the polymer bonding performance.The second is a hard monomer (styrene), high glass temperature, giving polymer cohesion;The third is functional monomer, which can be copolymerized with soft and hard monomers to obtain copolymers with functional groups, which can significantly improve the comprehensive properties of emulsion.


(5) Cationic styrene-acrylic emulsion

Cationic styrene-acrylic emulsion refers to the polymer or copolymerization obtained by using cationic surfactant or a single system of positively charged acrylic acid. Its basic characteristic is that the polymer surface or the polymer itself has a positive charge.Cationic styrene-acrylic emulsion with positive charge is not only conducive to the neutralization, adsorption and adhesion of the surface with negative charge, but also has bactericidal, dustproof and antistatic effects.
